Training Coordinators work with Training Managers to assess training needs, plan curriculum, generate training materials, and conduct training programs. They're also crucial in evaluating the effectiveness of training and development programs.

This position requires excellent communication skills, industry understanding, and previous job experience. Start a dialogue using the following mix of open-ended and situational questions to validate the "must-haves" on your job description.

It's preferable to match the inquiries to their specific work setting as much as possible. If they are constantly traveling to training sessions, dealing with various groups, or reporting to multiple persons, for example, include questions about these circumstances.

  • During a long training session, how would you keep staff attentive and engaged?
  • What is the most common way to terminate a training session?
  • What part did you have in evaluating the outcomes of a training program?
  • How do you recognize when you've successfully taught your trainees’ new skills?
  • Have you ever seen a training gap at a company that wasn't being filled? What action did you take?
  • What would you do if one of your courses received poor feedback?
  • Describe an instance when you were complimented on your training ability.

Conclusion

Process-based questions are the most useful. Inquire about how applicants would apply their most effective training technique or terminate a training session. Pay close attention to how they communicate. Patient, straightforward, and methodical training coordinators are essential. Your most promising prospects will ask a slew of intelligent, pertinent questions and make a compelling argument for why they are the best fit for your organization.
