The Merchandiser is responsible for managing and organizing products in a retail environment. They analyze sales data to make recommendations on inventory levels, pricing, and product placement. 

The skills needed for this role include analytical abilities, attention to detail, and an understanding of consumer behavior.

Skill Related Questions:

  • How do you analyze sales data to make recommendations on inventory levels?
  • Can you give an example of how you have used sales data to adjust pricing?
  • What techniques have you used to ensure the visual appeal of products in a store?
  • How do you prioritize products and decide on their placement in a store?
  • What is your experience with managing stock levels and avoiding stock shortages?
  • Can you describe your experience with forecasting product demand?

Behavioral or Situational Questions:

  • Tell us about a time when you had to handle an unexpected shortage of a popular product.
  • Can you describe a time when you had to adjust product placement to increase sales?
