The Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing a category strategy that drives revenue growth and profitability for the organization. 

They are accountable for managing the product lifecycle, supplier relationships, and inventory management. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead and motivate a team.

Skill related questions:

  • How do you identify potential new product categories to add to the company's offerings?
  • How do you measure the success of a category strategy?
  • Can you explain your experience in negotiating with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms?
  • How do you ensure that the inventory levels for your categories are optimized?
  • How do you monitor industry trends and adjust your category strategy accordingly?
  • Can you describe a time when you had to make a difficult decision regarding a product category?

Behavioral or situational questions:

  • Describe a situation where you had to collaborate with cross-functional teams to successfully launch a new product category.
